I became the Treasurer of the Pi Sigma Chapter of Delta Zeta in Spring 2017. The diversity in Delta Zeta embodies the diversity at UT Dallas, providing me with a solid foundation to the business world. Being on the executive board, I have seen how an organization operates from the ground up considering that Delta Zeta at UT Dallas was only founded in Fall 2014.

I have improved on my interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills as I present my report in front of 80+ members on a weekly basis.

I have also gotten atypical on-campus experiences as I have created a budget that the Chapter uses to fund its operations. Overall, since the Treasurer has such a significant role in the Chapter, I have definitely gained a sense of responsibility and confidentiality.

I was a First Year Leader for the Naveen Jindal School of Management in Spring 2016 and Fall 2016. As a peer mentor and teacher’s assistant to freshmen students, I helped them transition from high school to college.

By creating weekly lesson plans with the professor, I built upon my organization skills. I also learned to be flexible as everything does not always go as planned. By presenting in front of 56+ students on a weekly basis, I definitely became more confident in public speaking.

I was hand-selected to be a part of JSOM Dean’s Council in Spring 2015 and shortly after, I became the Student Outreach Chair. This platform helped me secure the position as the Undergraduate Leader in Spring 2016.

As the president, I had the opportunity to network with my fellow students and faculty members like program directors, the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, and the Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Programs. I helped lead and spearhead several projects that engineered the student experience at the business school.

This position not only improved my communication skills but also made me more team-oriented as all the projects revolved around working together as a team to ensure the successful implementation of our plans.

This organization raises awareness and funding in hopes to eradicate the seven most common neglected tropical diseases in the world by 2020. I was intrigued by END7's mission, so I was a part of the team who started the organization at UT Dallas in Spring 2015.

Being the VP of Marketing has provided me with opportunities to exercise my creative mind. I am responsible for regularly updating the website with pictures that I took at our monthly meetings and events.

My experience here has helped me develop my growth mindset. Starting a new organization on campus is difficult, and during the first year, END7 did not have a lot of members. However, through trial and error and better marketing, our second year of END7 has improved significantly as our membership has doubled. As a result, I have definitely learned about being committed.

I was hand-selected to be apart of the PPA 10 class for the Professional Program of Accounting in the Naveen Jindal School of Management. In this program, I will be fast tracking and graduating with my Master’s in Accounting in Spring 2019. By then, I will also have enough hours and be CPA Exam eligible.

PPA has allowed me to enhance both my technical accounting and my “soft” skills. The intensive and fast-pace class work has definitely developed my academic knowledge. The numerous opportunities to network with employers and work as a team with my classmates has helped me hone on interpersonal interactions.
