ABOUT
Being born in Taiwan and moving to Houston at the age of four, I learned at a young age to be independent and determined. I am a firm believer in the phrase "you get out what you put in," so I am always pushing myself to overcome gender and racial stereotypes.
I will be graduating in May 2018 with my B.S. in Accounting and Finance, and I will receive my M.S. in Accounting in May 2019. To ensure that I get the most out of my college experience, I have been very involved on campus. On top of being in two honor societies, I was the Undergraduate Leader for JSOM Dean’s Council, a Senator on Student Government, a JSOM First Year Leader, and the Treasurer for Delta Zeta. As one can see, I like to keep myself busy. I enjoy and thrive on challenges, so I’m always pushing my limits.
As globalization is becoming more prevalent, the international aspect of accounting fascinates me, so being culturally aware of society is very important to me. I have been privileged enough to have grown up in America but also experience the Taiwanese culture as I would visit my home country every summer as a child. For exposure in living in the other spectrum, I decided to intern in Santiago, Chile for nine weeks with a company called La Bicicleta Verde. As I went to this second-world country alone, I learned the true meaning of independence. I also came out of that internship more appreciative of what I have and of all the help I received during my time in Chile.
To surmise, I am actively looking for opportunities not only for the exposure to work settings regarding my majors but also for my own personal and professional development. I am eager to take on challenges to sharpen my ability and to adjust to any situation I may encounter as my experiences have made me more flexible and out-spoken.
